ABOUT US
As far as our records can tell the HDCS was formed around 1951 with the aim of encouraging interest in Scottish traditions, culture and customs including Scottish Country Dancing.
A Constitution was formally drawn up which catered for such important matters as membership, finance and governance by means of a ‘Council’ consisting of a President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee. Provision was made for an AGM; the annual celebration of St Andrew, Patron Saint of Scotland as well as Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Bard was also stipulated.
The Society has evolved over the years with customs and traditions maintained.
